Aphrodisiacs– Is it for Real?

So you are probably asking yourselves, “why the dogs!?”
Simple! APHRODISIAC is not meant to be taken seriously, OR IS IT????

Let us start by defining “Aphrodisiac”. It derives from the Greek word – Aphrodite, the God of Love.

It has come to mean anything that increases sexual desires; although, it does not cure any sexual problems.

Despite the hype about food and smells, Lynn Fischer, author of The Better Sex Diet, believes if you want good sex, you need to take care of your heart. She prescribes a low-fat diet, moderate exercise and stress management, inspired by the medical findings of Dean Ornish, MD. This implies eating lots of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, getting 10% of calories from fat, 5% from saturated fat and 75% from carbohydrates.

It is important to recognize that it is the vitamins and nutrients in the foods which can boost an aspect of sex. A MensHealth report noted that eggs, vanilla ice cream and celery can be helpful aids. For example, the vitamins in eggs (be it chicken or fish) can supposedly reduce performance anxiety and premature ejaculation, and the calcium in vanilla ice cream evidently makes orgasms more powerful. There is speculation that beef liver, pumpkin seeds, raw almonds and ginseng are aphrodisiacs as they help with blood flow. While this may be true, too much of one thing can also have a negative effect. For instance, blueberries are also a good aid for improving blood flow; however, if consumed too much it can cause diarrhea!

Naturopaths, family doctors, sex therapists and psychologists agree: Aphrodisiacs aren’t going to do a thing if you’re not psychologically healthy. The brain is the biggest sex organ.

Although, many experts think aphrodisiacs only work by the power of psychological suggestion, let’s prove them wrong! Here are a few instant aphrodisiacs for those heartfelt moments:

Lust for chocolate? Research indicates that several chemicals in chocolate – including phenylethylamine, which can increase energy, feelings of attraction, giddiness and euphoria – give you a temporary sensation of internal bliss. In addition, components of chocolate may influence serotonin, a chemical that affects mood.

Add a splash of Tabasco Sauce to your dinner. The chili peppers in the sauce causes a reaction in your body similar to sexual arousal – your heart beats faster, you sweat, your lips tingle, your skin flushes slightly.

Brew a pot of ginkgo biloba tea.
Studies show that this herb can enhance arousal and facilitate an orgasm.
