I
would like to start off by saying that I really
enjoy reading Musclemag International and I have
used many training tips and advise from their
articles.
In the April issue #262 there is an article in
the muscle bits section saying that "Being
in the sun can prevent M.S." Well that is
great that the magazine addressed the issue and
mentioned how to prevent the disease.
But what if you already have this brutal disease?
I will explain...
On Valentine day in the year of 1999 I was diagnosed
with this condition after I had experienced a
few symptoms that I couldn't
understand why they were there.
Anyway, I did have a hard time with the diagnoses
and I was in a slump for about 1 1/2 years until
I clued in as to what I could do to help myself
and to inspire others and help motivate others
who needed motivation. I got the job done and
I feel pretty good about this.
Last year I entered a competition in the city
of Toronto (I live 40 min north of their) called
Musclemania and it was for the Nationals. I couldn't
believe that I was their competing with my country's
very best in natural bodybuilding.
After the contest I realized that after all the
weird naturopath, holistic and alternative ways
to deal with this condition, the answer was in
my training. What M.S. does to me and as well
as many other people is it cramps up your legs,
back and any other
joints which in my opinion is why people with
M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis) need the use of a walker
or a cain to get around. I know what this is like
because everyday is different and you never know
what the next day will bring or how you will feel
when you wake up.
As I sit here typing this letter I just want to
give you an
example: Yesterday at the gym I trained my legs.
I don't do little small exercises either. The
workouts that I do are very tough and some times
it may take me a little time to go from one exercise
to the next but I still get it done.
So right now my legs are very sore and tired but
when I go to the gym after I complete this letter
I will stretch my legs for a bit and I will feel
normal again. Somewhat anyway!
I can't tell you enough what bodybuilding has
done for me as a
whole in body and spirit and doing competitions
is the best way for me to feel great about myself.
Why is that? In the contest last year there were
16 guys in novice and 15 in welterweight and these
were the 2 divisions I entered in. So only myself
and these other guys had enough guts and felt
that good about how we looked to strut our stuff
on stage to have judges compare
each other to see who was better. Wow, what a
feeling it was.
I enjoyed it so much that on May 1st in Buffalo
N.Y. there is a show called the northern states
super natural and I have entered the show and
4 weeks later the competition called Musclemania
is on again so I will enter that as well.
To the person whom is reading this, I am sure
that you would know someone else who could benefit
from this story as lots of people up here in the
Toronto area benefit as well because my story
was published in a major Toronto newspaper 2 days
before the show and I was in 2 smaller papers
in my area a bit later in the summer.
I am looking to do this again as well.
... Even my doctors think it is cool too that
I do this!
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
